LISA IZQUIERDO

Lisa Izquierdo was born in Manchester, England in 1975 to a Spanish father and English mother. Her creative talents blossomed at a young age, deeply influenced by natural elements, the human figure and, most importantly, the intense energy generated by human connections. She currently works from her studio situated in Altrincham, Manchester.

Life presents its challenges, and when Izquierdo paints, she confronts and explores the range of emotions, sensations, thrills and despair that we all experience.

Life can sometimes appear bleak but, while painting, Izquierdo endeavours to discover the glimmer of Light and vitality that she knows exists. She finds this light in nature, in the intricate patterns of textures that inform her canvases, in the human form and in the forces that unite a man and a woman.

Many of Izquierdo's paintings evolve into abstraction, while still maintaining a connection, albeit fragile, with reality and the enchanting world that envelops us. This connection extends to the relationships that shape our existence. The artist incorporates natural forms and elements, the curve of a breast, subtle leaf outlines or the intricate patterns that sweep across a sandy expanse. Through this process, she tackles contradictions and endeavours to harmonise opposites, looking for that tiny spark of light she knows is there.
